The Life Radar

The Life Radar has the potential to become one of the fastest roadmaps you're ever going to come across for getting clarity about where you are today and which areas of your life represent the best opportunities for growth.

As you know by now, we’re great believers in measuring what matters and this tool is one such device for getting a snapshot of where you are in life.

Actually, we'd like you to think about this as a life 'stock take' we encourage you to introduce it to your significant other as well. There’s a lot to be said for yourself and your better half using this monthly. If you do, we suggest doing it separately to start with and then comparing notes - it’s like a mini ‘life meeting’ that can bring you closer together and get you clear and calibrated.

Active Recovery Protocol Template

Peak performance and being able to operate in a state of flow go hand-in-hand but it’s important to understand that flow is a peak state. As such, you can’t operate in a peak state all the time and attempting to do so will inevitably lead to burn out.

It can be argued that life’s richness is actually the difference between these states, its where behavioural change comes from. So knowing when and how to recover is just as important as knowing when to hit full throttle and increase your impact in the world! Therefore, it’s important for anyone who is serious about peak performance to get serious about embedding a Recovery Protocol into their daily lives!

Optimise Your Workspace

We believe your environment dictates your performance and studies have shown that dialing in your workspace has very real neurobiological consequences for productivity and creativity too.

Every distraction, whether it’s food, people, noise, your phone, or your smartwatch is a major productivity killer. Preventing these distractions requires you to actively suppress impulses, and in doing so you’re sapping your cognitive resources.

So here are the Top 15 Steps to optimise your workspace at the office and when working from home. The more of these you can implement the more you’ll increase your output, productivity, and overall happiness.

Good For The Head & Body

Guided 5 Deep Breaths [60 Seconds]

This is a quick breathing exercise that Mat regularly makes use of in the Headspace App.

It’s a great way to start your day, end your day or, in fact, to use at any point during your day.

It’s all about enjoying 5 deep breaths, it takes just 60-seconds.

You can access a 5 minute guided session HERE.

Guided Box Breathing [5 Minutes]

In any of our programs you'd have been introduced to one of the powerful, proven breathing techniques called Box Breathing.

Box Breathing can heighten performance and concentration while also being a powerful stress reliever. It’s also pretty straight forward and can be done anywhere, anytime!

We recommend this being a 20 minute practice but, if you're time poor or just looking for a quick reset, 5 minutes works wonders!

You can access a 5 minute guided Box Breathing session HERE.

Guided Meditation [5 Minutes]

In any of our programs you'd have been introduced to the power of meditation.

Meditation can be a powerful stress reliever, can reduce your heart rate and heighten performance. And like breathing techniques, meditation is pretty straight forward and can be done anywhere, anytime!

We recommend this being a 20+ minute practice but, if you're time poor or just looking for a quick reset, 5 minutes works wonders!

You can access a 5 minute guided meditation session HERE.

Guided Life Radar Session

As you know, Mat recommends redoing your Life Radar at least every quarter, if not each month.

This is a guided session to support you as you redo your Life Radar, an 'aide memoire' if you will.

REMINDER: Don't look at your previous Life Radar(s) before you redo it - you'll likely compromise your results.

For sure, once you've completed your latest Life Radar, and reflected on the results, then it's great to go back and look at the progress you've made! Make sure you celebrate the mini-wins and enjoy the hard earned Dopamine flush!

10 Day Meditation Course

The 'Zen in Ten' is a 10-Day mindfulness accelerator for people who need to slow down.

It was created by Neil Seligman, the founder of The Conscious Professional and Author of 100 Mindfulness Meditations and Conscious Leadership.

In his late twenties, Neil had a moment of insight when he decided to abandon his career as a Barrister (Trial Lawyer) and set off in a new direction. It has taken a while but he now feels fully aligned in his work. He loves inspiring people to make powerful decisions for themselves and to take care of their wellbeing and happiness along the way.

Time tracking for better work, not overwork

Time mastery is an essential skill for human health and high performance.

This (free) tool, Toggl, allows you to easily track how you spend your time so that you can do some serious 'gardening' and remove the low value activities from your life (and repurpose it doing what matters most).

We recommend tracking your time for 7 days (in 10-30 minute increments) so you get real data that lead to real insights.
